Alexander “Cost One” Acosta is a cultural producer, creative strategist, and multidisciplinary artist dedicated to honoring tradition, amplifying community voice, and preserving cultural spaces through the arts. As founder of RAPPORT and Founding Executive Director of the nonprofit Soul Food Cypher (SFC), Acosta leads projects that blend storytelling, public engagement, and hip-hop to activate meaningful experiences in both local and international contexts. Grounded in the framework of Creative Placekeeping, his work centers culture bearers and prioritizes memory, authenticity, and access. Through RAPPORT, Acosta has produced site-responsive installations, performances, and festivals across Atlanta’s public realm, including projects with MARTA ArtBound and the Atlanta BeltLine Art Program. In 2023, he launched ATL Park Jam, a dynamic celebration of Atlanta’s contributions to hip-hop, which grew in its second year to reach over 800 attendees and 18.6 million media impressions. Through Soul Food Cypher, Acosta has hosted over 350 public events and 300+ workshops, redefining freestyle rap as a tool for education and empowerment. In 2024, SFC expanded internationally through a Vila Albertine Artist Residency and performance at Hip Hop Society Festival in Marseille, France. As a longtime photojournalist and educator, Acosta’s practice weaves together visual storytelling, public art, and cultural memory to build platforms that sustain and celebrate creative ecosystems.
